Yesterday my friend Gillian and I went to Alterknit cafe on 1024 St. Clair West. The place was packed with knitters and it made me feel a little intimidated but a bit at home to hear different conversations full of knitting patterns. Gillian got a cappuccino and I got myself a latte and it tasted superb. I love latte's made from a manual espresso machine as oppose to an automatic one. I really enjoyed the snacks they were passing around. They had some fruit/vegetable platter, crackers and cheese, chips and salsa :) It made me realize just how important it is to eat while working away on a project.
They had a wonderful selection of yarns and needles. I'm glad we got a chance to check it out. There was this $20.00 sock yarn I really wanted to get. Maybe next time :)

Wow, that sounds like a wonderful place to knit! There's a knitting store in NYC, Knit NY, that has a cafe also, but only a few tables... It sounds like this place was really busy! I often knit at Starbucks, either alone or with my sister when she visits (we're the family knitters, my other sister is just getting started).
You should definitely try a sweater - start with a baby sweater. It's smaller and easier to work with. By the time I finished my first baby sweater, it was too small for the recipient - I still have it! However, I have made others since, that are being worn! I also knit one sweater for myself. It gets easier and better with each one! :)
Starbucks was the first cafe I ever knitted at but I've grown to not knit at starbuck since I work there. Although the first store I ever worked at was the store I got really into knitting and I was there a couple weeks ago waiting for my cousins so I decided what better way to kill time then to knit and it really just brought me back into this comfort mode :)
I really want to check out knit shops in NYC. Still trying to convince my bf to take a trip with me up there :)
Thanks for your suggestions with starting off with a baby sweater :) Time to find a pattern hehe
